KIM SHATTUCK,
1963-2019

Kim Shattuck, the alternative-rock firebrand best known as frontwoman of beloved Cali band the Muffs, died Wednesday after a battle with ALS. She was 56.

“This morning, the love of my life passed peacefully in her sleep after a two-year struggle with ALS,” reads an online post from Shattuck's husband, Kevin Sutherland. “I am the man I am today because of her. She will live with all of us through her music, our shared memories and in her fierce, creative spirit.

Shattuck, who first endeared herself to modern-rock fans as bassist for the Pandoras, also played a role in the Pixies and NOFX, among others, as well as her band the Coolies.

A Muffs reunion project was slated for 10/18.

The socials are filled with declarations of love for Shattuck, especially from the L.A. musician community.
