THE EMMY GOES TO ...

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was honored with the Emmy for Outstanding Music Supervision for the second year in a row. Springsteen on Broadway, Ken Ehrlich’s Aretha Franklin tribute and the Paul McCartney episode of Carpool Karaoke also received awards at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony.

Music Supervisors Robin Urdang, Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino won for an episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel that included classical pieces, Ed Ames’ “Let’s Get Away From it All,” a Chet Atkins-Les Paul duet, the Hues Corporation’s “Rock the Boat” and several cast sing-alongs.

CBSCarpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live From Liverpool was named Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded); Aretha! A Grammy Celebration For The Queen Of Soul won for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special; and Thom Zimny won for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for his work on Springsteen On Broadway.

The original music awards went to:

Adam Schlesinger, Rachel Bloom and Jack Dolgen for “Antidepressants Are So Not A Big Deal” from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (Outstanding Original Music And Lyrics);Ramin Djawadi for “The Long Night” Game Of Thrones (Outstanding Music Composition for a Series); and Hildur Guðnadóttir for “Please Remain Calm” from Chernobyl (Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie or Special). Nicholas Britell received the Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music Emmy for Succession.

HBO’s Game of Thrones received 10 Emmys at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremonies on Saturday and Sunday while Chernobyl took home seven and Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won six. The Primetime Emmy Awards will air 9/22 on Fox.
