WEILAND'S STP WORK LANDS AT SONY/ATV

The final piece of the Stone Temple Pilots catalog has landed at Sony/ATV Music Publishing as Jon Platt’s team has acquired the late Scott Weiland’s share.

The signing comes less than a week after the other three songwriters in the band— Robert DeLeo, Dean DeLeo and Eric Kretz—signed with Warner Chappell. Weiland co-wrote all of the band’s material.

“Scott Weiland was one of the most iconic frontmen of his generation and with Stone Temple Pilots created a legacy of timeless songs that Sony/ATV is now privileged to represent,” Sony/ATV President, Global Chief Marketing Officer Brian Monaco said. “I am thrilled about the licensing opportunities that we can create from this incredible catalog.”

Weiland co-founded the alternative rock band and was the co-writer and frontman for their first six albums.

Platt, Sony/ATV’s Chairman and CEO, said, “We are excited to be the home of such a classic and prestigious body of work that we are honored to bring to a wider audience.”
