TWO NEW FIRMS ARISE FROM DAVIS SHAPIRO

One of the top entertainment law firms—Davis Shapiro Lewit Grabel Leven Granderson & Blake, LLP—is dividing in two. The word came Friday morning in the form of a succinct joint statement from the principals.

"Perhaps the name was just too unwieldy to last forever,” the statement begins. “As we move through the summer, the former L.A. and New York offices of Davis Shapiro Lewit Grabel Leven Granderson & Blake, LLP have decided to amicably split. The L.A. office will be joined by film and TV attorneys led by Andre Des Rochers and will go by the name Granderson Des Rochers, LLP. The N.Y. firm will continue as the successor to the older Davis Shapiro, exact surnames TBD. There's no great gossip to be had, all core clients will roll with their primary teams and everyone truly wishes each other the best going forward.”

As the TBD indicates, there will be much more to come on this unfolding news—which breaks just before HITS' issue on the hottest music law firms.
