"BE ALRIGHT" HAS ISLAND FEELING IRIE

Island boss Darcus Beese and team have a hit on their hands—the first act of the Darcus era to break at radio—with Dean Lewis' "Be Alright," as the Aussie troubadour's debut album concludes its first week. As this jubilant photo confirms, the single is now platinum.

Lewis has amassed 1.5 billion global streams to date, half of them for "Alright." The song recently hit #1 at Hot AC radio and is Top 15 at Pop, #1 at Shazam U.S. and #11 Shazam global.

In addition to hitting #15 at iTunes overall, Lewis has been ruling the download emporium's singer/songwriter chart, with "Alright" at #1, an acoustic version of the song at #4 and another song, "Stay Awake," at #5 ("Awake" has racked up 5m combined global streams in two weeks). Lewis is the Apple Up Next Artist through 4/18; he has the #1 album in his home country and the #2 album on Apple Music Australia.

Darcus is now said to be passing a celebratory spleef to Eric Wong, Ayelet Schiffman and squad that's strong enough to make anybody see kangaroos.
