PARLOPHONE WELCOMES NICK BURGESS 

Warner U.K. label Parlophone has a new co-President with the arrival of respected Virgin EMI A&R exec Nick Burgess, who will helm the label alongside Mark Mitchell. Burgess brings with him 20 years of experience, working with the likes of Bastille, Chvrches, Lewis Capaldi and Loyle Carner.

He starts his new position Friday and both Burgess and Mitchell — who has been helming the label since January last year — report to Max Lousada, who said: "Nick comes to Warner with an outstanding track record of finding and breaking original British talent, and I’ve always been impressed by his vision, fearlessness, and creative spirit. He’s the perfect choice to join Mitch in taking this legendary label into the future.”

At UMG label Virgin EMI, Burgess was SVP of A&R, where he also signed and worked with Blossoms, MNEK and Hardy Caprio, amongst others. From 2008 until 2011, he was MD of Jive Records U.K., where he signed and launched Chipmunk. During an earlier six-year stint at Virgin Records, he signed multi-platinum artists such as The Kooks and The Thrills. Burgess began his A&R career at Gut Records in 1999 after being signed to EMI as a guitarist for five years.
