APPLE INKS DARDEN AS TOP R&B EDITOR

Ebro Darden, host of the Hot 97 show “Ebro in the Morning,” has added Global Editorial Head for Apple Music specializing in hip-hop and R&B to his resume.

He confirmed the new job in a tweet that read “2019. Officially joined the Apple team. Thank You @applemusic. Thank you @hot97. And I’ll still be talking shit daily...,” referring to him continuing with his radio job.

Darden takes over Carl Chery’s former post, vacant since he left for Spotify eight months ago.

He will manage a group of editors and developing editorial strategies for new releases. Besides his Hot 97 show, he will also continue to do his weekday Beats 1 show on issues facing hip-hop. Darden has been with Beats 1 since 2015.
