EBONY HONORS MOTOWN

After swearing to the Quality Control guys that the Rare Earth catalog is a gold mine ripe for harvesting, Capitol Music Group Chairman & CEO Steve Barnett made his way into Ebony Magazine’s annual Power 100 event at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Quality Control COO Kevin “Coach” Lee, left, QC CEO Pierre “Pee” Thomas and Motown GM Marc Byers said they’d look into sampling Rare Earth tracks only if someone explained the commercial potential of a 21-minute version of “Get Ready.”

Motown President Ethiopia Habtemariam accepted the Ebony Icon Award on Motown’s behalf while the label’s JamesDavis and Ne-Yo performed.
