CHART STORY: EXPERIMENT MARKS THE SPOT

RCA Nashville/Zone 4’s Kane Brown just became the third country artist to debut at #1 on the Top 50 Chart this year, moving 128k with sophomore full-length Experiment. Brown recently celebrated the four-times-platinum certification of “What Ifs,” the three-times-platinum certification of “Heaven” and the gold certification of “Lose It,” as he also passed 2 billion career streams.

That means Imagine DragonsOrigins (KidinaKorner/Interscope) lands at #2, as the band pulls in 91k for their fourth album. There are, in fact, four new releases in the Top 5. Trippie Redd’s A Love Letter to You 3 (TenThousand/Caroline) arrives at #3 with 85k, while Lil Peep’s Come Over When You’re Sober, Pt. 2 (Lil Peep/AUTNMY/Columbia) takes the #5 spot with 67k.

A “super deluxe” version of The BeatlesWhite Album (Apple/Capitol) bows at #6 with 61k. It’s worth noting that this six-disc, 107-track project, packed with additional recordings, previously unreleased sessions and other nerdly goodies, is priced at a whopping $69.99 digitally. The physical iteration, which also includes a Blu-ray disc and 164-page book, is $160.

A little further down on the chart, the debuts include Muse’s Simulation Theory (Warner Bros.)—#13, 38k—and Jon Bellion’s Glory Sound Prep (Capitol)—#16, 35k.

When it comes to marketshare, UMG is #1 with 66%, SME follows with 20% and WMG is #3 with 13%, while the indies claim 1%.

In other news, with the holiday approaching, we’re told we’re supposed to be thankful. And to that we say, “Get stuffed.”
