Seventeen years after its release—and a day prior to Mariah Carey’s new album on Epic, Caution, coming out—Glitter is sitting at #1 on iTunes.
Buoyed by a $4.99 price tag and a #justiceforglitter social media campaign, the album reached #1 today. The effort is focused: Her next-highest album on the chart is 1994’s Merry Christmas at #111.
On Wednesday, Carey noticed the much-maligned Virgin-released album climbing the iTunes albums chart and tweeted “not sure what’s happening but I love it! The lambily is amazing at getting #justiceforglitter.”
Billie Frank must be celebrating with a victory dance.
