DYLAN DRAWS BLOOD

Another holy grail from the vaults of Bob Dylan will see the light of day on 11/2 when Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings release a six-CD set of the multiple Blood on the Tracks sessions.

Bob Dylan—More Blood, More Tracks—The Bootleg Series Vol. 14 collects the four New York and two Minneapolis studio recordings Dylan made in September and December 1974. While Blood on the Tracks is one of Dylan’s best-selling albums, the bootlegs of those sessions are as coveted as his live and studio work between 1964 and ’66 and the legendary Basement Tapes.

The oft-told story is that Dylan decided against releasing the New York versions of the songs and re-recorded five of the tracks at Minneapolis Sound 80 Studios beginning in late December 1974. While a few of the outtakes from the original New York sessions have been highly prized by bootleggers and collectors, most of these recordings have never been available in any format.

A single disc/2LP configuration of More Blood, More Tracks assembles 10 alternate takes of the 10 songs that appear the original Blood On The Tracks plus a previously unreleased version of "Up to Me."

The full-length deluxe version of More Blood, More Tracks includes the complete New York sessions in chronological order including outtakes, false starts and studio banter. The album's producers have worked from best sources available, in most cases utilizing the original multi-track session tapes.

During production, engineer Phil Ramone sped up several of the masters by 2%-3% at Dylan’s request to give the songs an extra bounce. On More Blood, More Tracks the songs are presented as Dylan recorded them.

The deluxe box set, which includes a hardcover photo book, is a limited edition. After it sells out, no additional copies will be made.
