KLAIMAN ANKLING COLUMBIA

Joel Klaiman will be ankling his post as EVP/GM of Columbia Records, it was announced on 8/8.

Said Sony Music boss Rob Stringer, "Joel has been an integral and key part of the success of Columbia over the past six years. He is a great executive and I know he will succeed in his next endeavor."

“I am leaving my role after an incredible six-year run at Columbia Records," Klaiman said in a statement. "I want to thank Rob Stringer for the opportunity and support. Thank you to Ron Perry. I wish continued success to him and the Columbia team. I am excited for my next chapter."

Klaiman joined the label in 2012 at the behest of Stringer (who was then Columbia boss, of course) and has been intimately involved with massively successful campaigns for such artists as Adele, Beyoncé, The Chainsmokers, Pharrell and One Direction, among many others. Prior to his tenure there he enjoyed a great six-year run at Republic, where he was EVP Promo and Artist Development. The highly desirable exec seems to have had the magic touch, given his stints at these labels, which remained at or near the top of the heap during his service.
