U.K. CHARTS: GRIDLOCK AT THE TOP

A gridlock remains on the U.K.’s Official Charts with The Greatest Showman soundtrack (Atlantic) clocking up its 10th week at #1 on 46k combined sales, while Drake tallies his eighth on singles with “God’s Plan” (Island). How many new #1s will there be in Blighty this year?

The only other album to spend so many consecutive weeks at #1 over the past 30 years is Adele’s 21 (XL), which did so for 11 weeks in 2011. The Greatest Showman is #1 on all counts: the most physically purchased, digitally downloaded and streamed album of the week. It far out-sold its nearest rival, Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Atlantic), by two copies to one.

Further down, this week’s highest new Official Albums entry is Calum Scott at #4 with his debut, Only Human (Capitol), followed by Judas Priest with Firepower (Columbia) at #5.

Editors' sixth studio album, Violence (Play It Again Sam), debuts at #6 and Jimi Hendrix’s Both Sides of the Sky (Sony) becomes the late guitarist’s 13th Top 10 LP at #8.

On the Official Singles Chart, Drake claimed the top spot by a whisker of a margin, with just 937 combined sales separating “God’s Plan” and “These Days” (Atlantic) by Rudimental.

Elsewhere, Zedd has his fourth Top 10 with “The Middle” f/Maren Morris & Grey (Polydor) rising eight places to #10, and George Ezra’s “Paradise” (Columbia) is up seven places to a new peak at #12.
