JUSTIN DANCES
THROUGH HALFTIME

Justin Timberlake took to the field for the Super Bowl LII halftime show to remind everyone he's still got some moves.

Starting with the stadium-ready "Filthy," surrounded by a sea of lasers, Justin—hoofing in a pair of vintage Air Jordans—danced his way through a series of tightly choreographed routines with a football field full of backup dancers. Crammed with a medley of hits including "Rock Your Body," "Sexyback" and "Suit and Tie," the performance came across with the live-band feel of his 20/20 Experience vibes accompanied by a marching band of about 300 people.

At one point in his routine, JT briefly took a knee, seemingly in solidarity with the NFL players who were showered with abuse from the right for protesting the state of the nation during the National Anthem throughout season.

In a nod to the Minneapolis music scene and the Twin Cities' departed icon Prince, Timberlake worked in a duet of sorts with the legend, who appeared in his Purple Rain-era glory projected on a screen in back of him for "I Would Die 4 U," which is probably where all those hologram rumors came from. Although these things are always awkward, it was a respectful nod to the rich culture of music from the hosting city.

But fans on social media weren't particularly pleased. Perhaps more significantly, the sound mix, such as it was, took some shots—including a take from TMZ that employed the word "Disaster" in the headline. But at least it was apparent that he wasn't lip syncing.

Timberlake closed his performance with the rousing #1 smash "Can't Stop the Feeling" and ran up into the stadium stands to take a series of pictures with fans while singing, ending his halftime show with a shout-out for "Super Bowl selfies!"
