U.K. MIDWEEKS: DOUBLE DOSE OF TAYLOR

Taylor Swift is on course for a second week at #1 in Blighty with her first Official Singles Chart topper, “Look What You Made Me Do” (Virgin EMI). Follow-up “Ready For It” is currently #25—and #1 on iTunes and #30 on Spotify’s U.K. Top 50—after just one day on sale. Can it catch up by week’s end? On the Official Albums list, Sony band The Script is leading the way.

“New Rules” (Warner Bros.) by Dua Lipa is just 3k combined sales behind Swift at midweek stage. P!nk is still #3 with “What About Us” (RCA), followed by “Friends” (Virgin EMI) from Justin Bieber and BloodPop and “More Than Friends” (Warner Bros.) by James Hype f/Kelli-Leigh.

Over on the Official Albums Chart, Irish trio The Script look set for their fourth U.K. #1 with fifth album Freedom Child (Columbia). The album is outperforming LCD Soundsystem’s American Dream (Columbia) by 2:1; British electronic veterans OMD enter at #3 with The Punishment of Luxury (100%). The fourth highest new entry is another independent release: Mogwai’s Every Country’s Sun (Rock Action) at #5. Ed Sheeran's ÷ (Atlantic) is down to #4.

Other high entrants include Jake Bugg with Hearts That Strain (Virgin EMI) at #7; Newton Faulkner at #8 with Hit The Ground Running (Battenberg); and Motorhead’s covers album Under Cover (Silver Lining) at #9.
