U.K. CHARTS: VAMPS SCORE 1ST #1

U.K. band The Vamps have scored their first Official Albums #1, which is also the first this year for UMG U.K. imprint Virgin EMI. “Wild Thoughts” (Black Butter/We The Best) becomes DJ Khaled’s second Official Singles #1.

The Vamps’ third album, Night & Day, betters the peak of #2 their debut Meet the Vamps hit in 2014. Follow-up Wake-Up reached #10 in 2015.

The second highest new albums entry is from grime MC Bugzy Malone with his self-released, King of the North (Ill Gotten), at #4. John Denver follows at #5 with The Ultimate Collection (Sony). Alt-pop duo Oh Wonder score their first Top 10 at #8 with their second album, Ultralife (Island), while Joe McElderry lands at #10 with his fifth and first independently released studio album, Saturday Night at the Movies (BK Records).

Among the holdovers, Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Atlantic) falls to #2, and Rag’n’Bone Man is #3 with Human (Columbia).

Over on the Official Singles list, DJ Khaled, Rihanna and Bryson Tiller's "Wild Thoughts" (Black Butter/We The Best) knocks “Despacito” (Polydor) from #1. Khaled also topped the U.K. chart with “I’m The One” in May, and has now secured the second singles #1 for Sony U.K. imprint Black Butter. Under the new chart rules, “Despacito” is now in its accelerated sales-to-stream ratio of 300:1 (as opposed to 150:1), which has been applied after three consecutive weeks of sales decline.

This week’s highest new singles entry is “Rain” (Sony) by Irish trio The Script, which enters at #26.

“Unforgettable” (Black Butter) by French Montana f/Swae Lee is at #3. "Feels" (Columbia) from Calvin Harris f/Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean stays at #4, followed by “Mama” (Virgin EMI) by Jonas Blue at #5.
