REPORT: SHAKE-UP AT BET IMMINENT

Will next month’s BET Awards be the final curtain call for CEO Debra Lee after 30 years at the network? Speculators are saying she’ll be following programming head Stephen Hill out the door as Viacom restructures the cable network. Others suggest she’s there to stay.

The New York Post found insiders to give them two versions of the story. In one, the decision to close its D.C. HQ in June and move operations to New York plus Lee’s recent move to Los Angeles led to speculation she will be leaving. She had anticipated receiving a job in the Hillary Clinton administration and was poised to leave her post.

Another Viacom insider said Lee’s contract was recently extended, Viacom is not restructuring BET and plans to close the D.C. office have been around for some time. Hill was let go in March. Stay tuned.
