MORE NEWS OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS

Will the arrival of former Wall Street Journal correspondent Hannah Karp as the Bible’s “News Director” launch a new era for the beleaguered trade? The well-liked Karp, whose WSJ beat included “music, national news, sports, travel and consumer products” (per the Bible’s own story), will be charged with breaking news, running the Topline section and the “curation” of power lists.

The latter responsibility will undoubtedly be a crash course in the Bible’s odd politics of sponsorship and patronage, and a great opportunity to hang with the music-industry machers at McDonald’s and Chase bank. Karp will also likely become adept at chronicling celebrity tweets.

Bible insiders say the incoming News Director is in for a rude awakening, as there's nothing classic about the Bible's journalistic mores.

The news of Karp’s hire comes after NYC-based headhunter Jackie Riley was said to be on speed dial, contacting top journalists for key positions at the Bible. A rumored housecleaning led by John Amato continues—dogged by claims that freelancers have been stiffed for months amid draconian budget cuts—on the heels of key exits from a brand that has struggled mightily to answer the question, “Who the fuck are we?”
