U.K. CHARTS: SONY MUSIC
RULES SUPREME

Jason Iley’s Sony Music has had an excellent week in Blighty thanks to another Elvis phenomenon and Little Mix topping the charts. The major is also #1 at national and regional airplay rankings.

Iley congratulated his artists and the teams that run Sony's imprints, saying: “We are incredibly lucky to be working with such great music, [and] all the Sony labels are always so brilliant in helping to realise our artists’ vision.”

The Wonder of You: Elvis Presley, released via Phil Savill’s Sony Music CG, has sold over 63k copies in its first week to grab the top Official Albums Chart spot. The album follows last year’s predecessor, If I Can Dream, which sold more than one million copies in the U.K. to claim the second biggest selling album of 2015.

In addition, Sony has five albums in the Top 10 this week, with Leonard Cohen’s You Want It Darker (Columbia) at #4, last week’s #1, Kings of Leon’s Walls (Columbia), at #5, Sia’s This Is Acting (RCA) at #8 and theOriginal Cast Recording of Lazarus (RCA) at #10.

Completing the Top 5 is Michael Bublé’s Nobody But Me (Warner Bros) at #2 and Lady Gaga’s Joanne (Interscope) at #3.

Over on the Official Singles Chart, Little Mix are #1 for a second week with “Shout Out To My Ex” (SYCO) notching up 112k combined sales—totalling the amount of consecutive weeks Sony has been at #1 to nine. Two more Sony releases complete the Top 3 as James Arthur’s “Say You Won’t Let Go” (SYCO) stays at #2 whilst The Chainsmokers’ “Closer” (RCA) also holds at #3.

The Weeknd f/Daft Punk’s “Starboy” (Island) is another non-mover at #4 alongside Hailee Steinfeld & Grey f/Zedd's “Starving” (Island) at #5.

Further down, Neiked’s “Sexual” (Polydor) has leapt six places to #6 and Clean Bandit’s “Rockabye” (Atlantic) f/Sean Paul and Anne-Marie is the highest new entry at #7.
