Green Day is the first headliner announced for AEG's annual British Summer Time jaunt in Her Majesty’s Hyde Park in July as part of their Revolution Radio tour.
“London is going to be treated to one of the best stadium bands of our generation,” said James King, SVP, AEG Live.
The festival, sponsored by Barclaycard, will take place for the fifth time next year after previously hosting Carole King, Rolling Stones, Pharrell Williams, Taylor Swift, The Who, Stevie Wonder and others.
Six events take place over two weekends from 7/1, with more headliners TBA. Overall, 385k people attended in 2016. Booking is helmed by AEG event director Jim King.
Back in the States, Green Day is promoting Friday’s release of Revolution Radio (Reprise) with a release day performance at Brooklyn’s Rough Trade NYC prior to a performance Saturday at Manhattan’s Webster Hall. They’ll play five dates in the U.S. in October before heading to Europe in January.
