A "STARBOY" IS BORN

The highly cinematic music video for The Weeknd's "Starboy" (XO/Republic) was revealed this morning. There's murder, luxury, destruction, a large neon cross, fast cars, panthers and some seriously smooth dance moves. What more could you ask for? The clip, which seems to signify a new chapter for the alternative R&B heartthrob and a departure from his past self, is certainly dark and enticing. Watch here.

The song—a collaboration with the electronic trailblazers of Daft Punk—has reportedly made history, earning the most release-weekend streams ever; between Thursday and Sunday, it raked in 17m+ global streams and 6.5m streams in the U.S. alone.

At radio, it went #1 Most Added at Top 40, Rhythm, Urban and Hot AC, making it the one-week Most Added record of all time in North America.

Talk about reaching for (and grabbing) the stars.

And remember, The Weeknd, is set to perform "Starboy" live for the first time this Saturday on season premiere of SNL.
