PACKERS ADD TO VIKINGS' PRINCE TRIBUTE

The new home of the Minnesota Vikings, U.S. Bank Stadium, delivered two tributes to native son Prince on Sunday, one planned and one that suggested an alignment of the cosmos.

The Minnesota Orchestra provided the halftime entertainment, following a bit of Beethoven with a performance of “Purple Rain.”

But late in the first quarter, the Green Bay Packers became the first team to score in the new building, and the boxscore reads as ode to the late Minneapolis musical icon. A one-yard pass from Rodgers to Nelson—that’s Aaron to Jordy for non-football fans. An apt salute to the man born Prince Rogers Nelson.

"Purple Rain" comes in at about the 4 minute mark.
