NEW U.K. SIGNINGS: PROFESSOR GREEN, BONZAI, DAKOTA

Two new artists have signed major label deals in Blighty recently. U.S./Irish electronic act Bonzai (pictured) joins Alison Donald and Mark Terry’s Sony U.K. imprint Columbia and “Fast Car” artist Dakota is a new addition to UMG U.K.’s Virgin EMI.

Also at Sony, Professor Green has joined Shabs Jobanputra's Relentless Records, reuniting the rapper with the exec that signed him to Virgin in 2010.

Green has left Universal, where he released three albums, hitting #2, #3 and #12 respectively on the U.K. Albums Chart. New material is on its way this year.

The relationship with Jobanputra began when the exec was President of Virgin when it was owned by EMI. Jobanputra left the job in 2011 ahead of the label's sale to Universal Music Group, joining Sony and reviving Relentless in 2012.

Over at Virgin EMI, Dakota is no stranger having appeared on Jonas Blue’s “Fast Car,” which reached #2 on the U.K. Singles Chart in February. She’s since been signed as a solo artist by Ted Cockle's label and is managed by Sarah T Smith - the wife and manager of Grammy-Award winning producer Fraser T Smith, who will produce her debut album.

There’s some freshly inked publishing deals too: singer/rapper Stefflon-Don has joined Guy Moot’s Sony/ATV while French producer Jules Nialt has joined the Bucks Publishing family.
