U.K. SIGNINGS: STAR.ONE TO SONY, BUSTED TO WARNER

Sibling DJ/production duo Star. One and reunited pop-punk band Busted (right) are amongst those to have signed major label deals in the U.K. this week, with Jason Iley's Sony and Max Lousada’s Warner, respectively.

Barry Burt, A&R Manager at Colin Barlow’s RCA imprint, has been keeping tabs on the Star. One brothers for the past four years. They’ve been working with manager Cian Cooper Davies, who’s also an A&R manager at Sony imprint Black Butter.

It’s their “Original Badman” that’s been signed in a single deal; the track has had over 57k plays on SoundCloud and 24k+ on Spotify. With more music on the way with RCA, the duo have production work with some of the leading names in the grime scene.

Over at Warner, BRIT Award-winning Busted, who had huge success at the turn of the millennium with UMG U.K.'s Island Records, have signed to Dan Chalmers' East West Records. The trio are currently on a sold-out reunion tour—their first in 12 years—and will have new music out later this year.

Chalmers, President East West Records U.K., said: "Watching Busted play live over the past few weeks and seeing people respond to their music and energy has been amazing. They have a huge global fanbase who’re going to be really excited to hear the new music the guys are working on.”

Chalmers is dedicated to delivering a “massive record,” but will there be another "What I Go to School For"?
