PRINCE: A PEEK INTO THE VAULT

Prince's death has triggered a multi-generational rediscovery of his music, demonstrated most clearly via let's-go-crazy album and single sales.

And although The Purple One fought his whole life to keep unauthorized recordings off the Internet, it was only a matter of time. He was famously litigious, so anyone hanging on to hidden gems knew better than to try and post them.

That era is now over. Appearing recently on Soundcloud are two stunning Prince collections, one called the Loring Park Sessions (reportedly recorded in the house of Prince’s first manager, Owen Husney, in 1977) that features funky instrumentals from a then-19-year old Prince, jamming with bandmates Andre Cymone and Bobby Z.

The other is a truly special set, Prince live on 06-07-82, which includes early versions of "17 Days," "When Doves Cry" and "Erotic City," as well as original songs you've never heard before. *head explodes*

And now that the state-appointed Bremer Trust has drilled open Prince's storied vault at Paisley Park Studios, there is surely more to come.
