URBAN TELLS ALL ON CBS SUNDAY MORNING

Keith Urban will discuss his new album Ripcord, songwriting methods and why he takes nearly two dozen guitars on tour on CBS Sunday Morning on 5/8. The theme of his Ripcord, released 5/6 on Capitol Nashville, Urban says, is the desire to make every moment count.

“I’ve always had that feeling,” Urban says, “that everything is—is now. This is all there is now. In the moment.”

Urban also talks about his start in country music, and struggling on the Nashville scene.

“I really wasn’t prepared for how long it was going to take. “I was just really musically out of step with everything here, but I wanted to be here, so it was just digging in roots and staying the course.”

And, of course, he’ll get into his 10-year marriage to Nicole Kidman. “Meeting her and getting married was just – wasn’t life changing, it was life beginning,” Urban says. “It was literally, like, ‘OK, life starts.’”

The series, which has been uncannily successful at finding the music-related narratives that affect audiences most, has consistently moved the sales needle. Will it do the same for Urban's new set? Stay tuned.
