CHART STORY: INSERT YOUR OWN ADELE HEADLINE HERE

Adele Tops the Chart Again & We’ve Run Out of Creative Ways to Say She’s #1

Guess what? XL/Columbia’s Adele tops the HITS Album Sales Chart once again, this time with 88k for 25. Shocked? Yeah, neither are we. On the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart, it rakes in another 108k. FYI, the set’s RTD is currently approaching 8.5m. If Adele tops the chart one more time, her next one is free.

Coming in at #2, Epic’s Yo Gotti has the highest-charting debut of the week with 45k for The Art of Hustle. It’s another strong debut for the L.A. Reid-led label, following on the heels of Future’s EVOL (A1/Freebandz), the reigning bow of Grammy week.

Two weeks after his Grammy performance and two wins, and about a month prior to his big night at the ACMs—where he’s up for Album of the Year, along with four other awards—Mercury Nashville’s Chris Stapleton holds strong at #3. For a Traveller, this thing sure doesn’t want to budge.

Other Grammy-related entries to remain in the Top 10 include Gaither country duo Joey + Rory (#5), RBMG/Def Jam’s Justin Bieber (#7), Republic’s 2016 Grammy Nominees compilation (#8), XO/Republic’s The Weeknd (#9) and Big Machine’s Taylor Swift (#10).

Following the much-talked-about release of her steamy music video for “Work” (co-starring Drake) Rihanna’s ANTI (Westbury Road/Roc Nation) breaks back into the Top 5, moving #9-4 with 34k. Weirdly enough, people don’t seem to have the same positive reaction when we twerk in our transparent tops.

Meanwhile, Nonesuch’s retro-soul/pop quartet, Lake Street Dive, has the only other debut in the Top 15, appearing at #11 with 15k.

As the tributes continue to pour in for the late, beloved David Bowie, Columbia’s Blackstar moves #21-13. And Valory/BMLG’s Thomas Rhett re-enters at #34, as monster “Die A Happy Man” crosses to Pop radio and new single “T-Shirt” breaks at Country.

Streeting this week are albums from Dirty Hit/Interscope’s The 1975, indie stars Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Redwing icon Bonnie Raitt.

Then, of course, there’s another Columbia queen to be thinking about: Beyoncé. Her next album is rumored to be coming in April, but given the recent trend of surprise releases (which Bey sparked herself with 2013’s self-titled set), could it come sooner?

In election news, Bernie Sanders struggles for traction among South Carolina voters, especially after asking several of them where he might find a decent knish.
