Eric Church and Chris Stapleton received five nominations each for the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards being held 4/3 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
Cam, a first-time nominee, Chris Young and Little Big Town each received four nominations, followed by Chris Janson, Miranda Lambert and Thomas Rhett with three.
Church is up for Entertainer of the Year against the show's co-host Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks and Lambert. He is also up for for Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year for Mr. Misunderstood, Video of the Year for “Mr. Misunderstood” and Vocal Event of the Year for “Raise ‘Em Up” with Keith Urban.
Stapleton's nominations are the first he has received as a performer, having been nominated only once before as a songwriter. He is up for Male Vocalist of the Year, New Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year for Traveller as an artist and producer, and Vocal Event of the Year for “Hangover Tonight” with Gary Allan.
This year's nominations are stacked with plenty of familiar names. Lambert's nomination for Female Vocalist of the Year is her 10th and a win would her seventh in a row. Carrie Underwood earned her 11th consecutive nomination in the category, having previously won four times, most recently in 2008.
Little Big Town, the reigning Vocal Group of the Year, received their 10th nomination in the category. Aldean, the three-time reigning Male Vocalist of the Year, earned his sixth consecutive nomination in that category. Brooks and Rascal Flatts, current record holders for Entertainer of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year, respectively, could extend their holds on the categories.
Among the newcomer nominees are Stapleton, Brett Eldredge, Kelsea Ballerini, Maddie & Tae, Brothers Osborne and Old Dominion.
Dierks Bentley will co-host the awards for the first time, joining Bryan, the reigning Entertainer of the Year. CBS will broadcast the event. See below for a list of artist noms.
