LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR

The Weeknd, Slash, Hans Zimmer & Amy Winehouse Added to Sony/ATV Neighbouring Rights Division

Sony/ATV has added The Weeknd, Slash, Hans Zimmer, the late Amy Winehouse and a handful of other artists to its Neighbouring Rights division, which was just launched last year.

The U.K.-based operation’s roster also includes Pharrell Williams, Mark Ronson, Snoop Dogg, Nile Rodgers, Clean Bandit and the estate of Lou Reed.

To clarify, this division focuses on rights related to the sound recording of a musical work and are due to the artists and musicians featured whenever there is a commercial exploitation of it (i.e. radio, TV airplay).

“These are fantastic additions to an incredible roster of clients that we have built up in a very short space of time,” shared Managing Director & President of European Creative Guy Moot. “Rather than playing a numbers game, we are taking a very different approach to Neighbouring Rights, which to us is about providing a bespoke, highly personal service in which we work with a handpicked group of the very best artists and plug into our creative, business and administrative skills as the world’s leading music publishing company.”
