HOLLYWOOD SAYS
"WE CAN"

Rihanna, The Weeknd, Calvin Harris, Sam Smith, Maroon 5, Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato & 5SOS Headline CBS Radio Benefit Concert

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the third annual We Can Survive benefit concert, presented by CBS Radio and hosted by Carson Daly, filled the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday night.

The extravaganza, sponsored by Chrysler, featured performances from Capitol's 5 Seconds of Summer, Safehouse/Island/Hollywood's Demi Lovato, Island's Nick Jonas, 222/Interscope's Maroon 5, Capitol's Sam Smith, Columbia's Calvin Harris and XO/Republic's The Weeknd, along with a surprise mini-set from Roc Nation's Rihanna (pictured right), and donated two dollars from every ticket sold to YSC, or Young Survival Coalition.

Of course, the place turned out to be a breeding ground for industry heavies, and drew in HITS weasels Todd Hensley and Samantha Hissong like moths to a flame. We're still not quite sure how they forged their passes though; crafty little buggers...

Notables subjected to being in the pair's presence included CBS' Andre Fernandez, Chris Oliviero, Michael Martin, Kevin Weatherly, Steve Salhany, Erik Bradley, Chad Fitzsimmons, Jeff Sottolano, Rick Thomas, Michele Boros, John Michael, Karen Mateo and Chris Patyk, Capitol honcho Steve Barnett, along with the label's Greg Thompson and Dennis Reese, manager extraordinaire Phil McIntyre and right-hand man John Taylor, Columbia's Lee Leipsner, Jim Burruss and Aimie Vaughan, Def Jam's Rick Sackheim, Republic's Tom Mackay, Gary Spangler and Rob Harvey, Harvest topper Jacqueline Saturn, Roc Nation chief Jay Brown, Modest Management's Lisa Wolfe and In2une's Darren Eggleston.

The impassioned event kicked off with a VIP pre-show soundcheck performance from 5 Seconds of Summer, sponsored by Citi. An exclusive Q&A, hosted by AMP Radio host Booker, will be available for viewing shortly.

The rest of the evening was totally electric. 5SOS brought the energy to 11 with pop/punk earworms "She's Kinda Hot" and "She Looks So Perfect," Demi Lovato strutted her stuff and showcased her powerhouse vocals on "Stone Cold," "Confident" and "Cool for the Summer"—all off her just-released album—and Nick Jonas hypnotized with that stunning falsetto on "Jealous."

Later, Maroon 5 expectantly induced shrieks and squeals, Sam Smith stopped hearts and Calvin Harris proved to be an ultimate show-stopper with a wow-inducing set that got everyone off their feet for his EDM bangers.

The Weeknd (above) turned up the heat with "Often," "The Hills" and summer smash "Can't Feel My Face," before Rihanna surprised everyone with a previously unannounced, career-spanning set comprised of "Bitch Better Have My Money," "Pour It Up," "We Found Love," "Umbrella," "Stay" and "Diamonds" and closed the night with an impressive fireworks show.

For once, the hottest place to be over an L.A. weekend turned out to be in heart-warming support of a good cause. Ain't that somethin'.
