WINEHOUSE REVISTED

New Clip From Highly Anticipated Amy Doc Surfaces

A24 has released a new clip to tease the upcoming release of Asif Kapadia's Amy Winehouse documentary, Amy. Watch it here.

The 58-second tease is taken from the very beginning of the movie. The intimate memory, recorded as a home video, serves an early look at the then 14-year-old's free-spirited and joyous side to contrast what lies within the encroaching narrative: her tumultuous journey into the limelight. It shows an Amy that people may not recognize or be familiar with, lacking the tattoos, iconic hairstyle and thick eye makeup. Once you hear her sing "Happy Birthday" to her friends with her signature fluttering jazz vocals, her identity is unmistakable.

The film hits select theaters in L.A. and N.Y. this Friday 7/3 and releases nationwide 7/10. Our own Samantha Hissong somehow must have managed to weasel past security at the premiere, hosted by UMG chief Lucian Grainge last week; you can read her review here.
