HOLE IN ONE: MAX AWARDED CBE

Universal Music Group International Chairman/CEO Max Hole was recognized in the Queen's 2015 Birthday Honours List over the weekend for services to the music industry.

To commemorate this special occasion, Her Majesty’s Guard of Honour marched in a syncopated cadence as a royal band played “Birthday,” “Fixing a Hole” and, of course, “Little Queenie.”

A bit of background courtesy Music Week: Hole joined UMGI in 1998 as SVP Marketing and A&R. In 2004, he advanced to EVP and subsequently added responsibility for digital, strategic marketing and commercial affairs, as well as Asia Pacific and Nordic/Central/Eastern Europe. He was appointed COO in 2010. Hole began his career as a manager and producer before going to Warner Music U.K. as A&R manager in 1982, progressing to Managing Director of WEA Records and, in 1990, founding MD of East West Records. During his 16 years at the company, Hole was involved with such acts as Simply Red, Tori Amos, Pretenders, Sisters of Mercy, Chris Rea and the Corrs.

PPL Director of Performer Affairs Keith Harris was also awarded a CBE.
