PHYSICAL (AND DIGITAL) GRAFFITI

Zep Classic's 40th Anniversary From WMG and Rdio

Forty years ago, more or less precisely, Led Zeppelin released the colossal double album Physical Graffiti, a creative and commercial landmark that arguably marked the apex of the band's powers (it's certified 16x platinum, but hey, no big deal). Now the WMG/Rhino folk have a suite of yummy product, newly remastered by guitarist Jimmy Page, to celebrate the anniversary, while Rdio offers it for streaming.

The set, made up of recordings made between 1970 and 1974, first appeared on Zep's Swan Song label via Ahmet Ertegun's Atlantic, and the reissue set preserves the original packaging concept. It's available as a double CD; a three-CD set with an intriguing companion disc of studio outtakes and alternate versions; double and triple vinyl versions; digital download (iTunes or Amazon); and a "Super Deluxe Box Set" with CDs, vinyl, download card, hardbound book, individually numbered print of the original sleeve and, for all we know, your own room at the L.A. Hyatt House complete with Pamela Des Barres.

Graffiti includes such stomping classics as "Custard Pie," "The Rover," "Trampled Under Foot" and "Houses of the Holy," the majestic "Kashmir" and the sublime "In the Light," among other indelible tracks. If you've heard the prior anniversary Zep reissues, you know these are dreamy-sounding.

But in a first, you can now stream this majestic set via Rdio and kindred services, along with the rest of the band's catalogue.
