A WEISS MOVE INDEED

Veteran Exec Said to Be Partnering withSONGS for Label/Pub Hybrid Through Sony

Inside sources tell us to look for the return of Barry Weiss to the Sony fold, with a new venture (through RED, we're told), in concert with SONGS Music Publishing, to be announced in the coming weeks.

Barry has been interviewing for staff positions, including a head of promotion. We’re told it will be a label/publishing hybrid deal for the highly regarded Weiss, the former head of UMG East Coast and longtime Jive and Jive/RCA topper.

None of the deals has yet been finalized. More details as we get ’em.
