Rhino pop-up store opens

CALLING MOGEN DAVID & THE WINOS: It’ll seem almost like old times for the next two weeks, as the legendary original Rhino Records store returns to its original location at 1740 Westwood Blvd. in pop-up form. Among the notables who’ll be popping by to perform are the Blasters (5/20), Richard Thompson (5/21), Mike Watt & the Minutemen (5/22), Spain (5/23), Syd Straw (5/24a), Maria McKee (5/26), Willie G of Thee Midniters (5/27a), Peter Case (5/28), and a double bill of The Urinals and The Last (5/30). The festivities begin tonight with a film documenting Nirvana’s set at the store, and they'll close things out fittingly on Memorial Day with Wild Man Fischer, Ruben & the Jets and the Kazoo Orchestra. (5/17a)
