Reaction to Fortune's Fool

WHO’S FOOLING WHO? Fred Goodman’s Fortune’s Fool comes out on July 13, and the media is already weighing in on the tome, which takes Edgar Bronfman Jr. as its focal point in an examination of the last 20 years in the record industry. The N.Y. TimesDevin Leonard said the book is “full of colorful anecdotes and astonishing quotes from its subjects... For the most part… a great read.” The Daily Beast’s Peter Lauria interpreted Goodman’s thesis to mean that Edgar “might be the man to save the record industry,” while an incredulous Roger Friedman openly criticized WMG’s performance under Bronfman in his Showbiz411 blog. Of course, it should be kept in mind, as Lauria reveals, that Edgar is a director of IAC, the parent company of the Tina Brown website, whose Chairman is Bronfman business partner Barry Diller.
