Fool for Schmucks

FOOL AND THEIR MONEY: Showbiz 411’s Roger Friedman reports The Beatles received a cool $1.5 million from Paramount/ DreamWorks for the rights to use their song, “Fool on the Hill,” over the opening credits of Dinner for Schmucks, which opens July 30. Producer Walter Parkes said that both Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono saw the film and liked it. According to Friedman, the Fab Four rarely, if ever, give permission for their original recordings to be used in movies. In another music connection, director Jay Roach is the husband of the Bangles' Susanna Hoffs, who once covered "Got to Get You Into My Life" with Matthew Sweet. (7/20p)
