U2 Returns to the Fray

U2’S RETURN: U2 was back on tour last week with a show at Turin’s Olympic Stadium Friday night, where Bono appeared fully recovered from his back surgery. The band continues its 360 jaunt in Germany tomorrow night at the Frankfurt Commerzbank Arena, where fans will hear two new songs, including “Glastonbury,” a performance of which is on YouTube (see below), and an acoustic ballad, “North Star.” There was also a new instrumental set intro, “Return of the Stingray Guitar,” as well as a rare performance of "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" and "Miss Sarajevo" by U2 spin-off group Passengers. In addition, the crowd sang “Happy Birthday” to The Edge, who turned 49 yesterday. (8/9a)
