Online video edges P2P

SIGN OF THE TIMES: Online video has surpassed P2P file-sharing as the largest generator of global broadband traffic, according to Cisco's Visual Networking Index Usage report. Online video represents 26% of broadband traffic, a percentage point ahead of peer-to-peer traffic—significantly down from last year, when it accounted for 38%. Peak hours for video viewing are between 9 p.m. and midnight worldwide, when video accounts for 29% of total traffic. More than a third of the Top 50 sites by volume are now video sites. (10/26a)
