Pontecorvo Heads Downtown

DOWNTOWN MOVE: Michael Pontecorvo is the new GM of Downtown Records, it was announced by Chairman/CEO Josh Deutsch and Vice Chairman Terence Lam. Pontecorvo will manage the day-to-day operations and strategic development of the label, its subsidiary Mercer Street Records and distributed labels Mad Decent, Fool’s Gold and Dim Mak Records. Next year’s release slate includes Cold War Kids and Santigold. Pontecorvo joined Downtown in 2006 from Virgin Records. He was also Head of Artist Development at Maverick, with stints at Mercury and Elektra. He began his industry career at John Scher’s Metropolitan Entertainment in 1994 as part of both their management and talent buying divisions. (11/16p)
