IDOL MEETS SURVIVOR: NBC is teaming with Survivor producer Mark Burnett and John de Mol (Big Brother, Fear Factor) to launch a new singing competition program to go up against Fox's American Idol and The X Factor. The network has acquired the rights to The Voice of Holland, the top-rated singing competition show in the Netherlands, which will premiere this spring, getting the jump on Simon Cowell’s X Factor, which is launching next fall. The panel consists of four coaches, popular performing artists in their own right, who judge the contestants with their backs to them, so they can only hear the singers, not see them. (12/14a)
