Geffen to be honored at Clive's Gala

GUESS WHO’S COMING TO DINNER: Actually, make that: Guess who’s coming to Clive’s Pre-Grammy Gala this year. The Recording Academy revealed that the 2011 Grammy Salute to Industry Icons will honor David Geffen, who’ll be presented with the President's Merit Award on Grammy eve (2/12) at the Beverly Hilton. The announcement prompted a statement from said President, Neil Portnow. "It is a true pleasure to again partner with the legendary Clive Davis to present our Pre-Grammy Gala, a memorable evening of special musical moments and camaraderie," enthused Portnow, as he often does. “This year, we are especially pleased and proud to honor David Geffen, a unique and pioneering entrepreneur in music, stage and film who has had a profound impact on our culture, on the entertainment industry, and whose notable philanthropy has positively affected the lives of so many through his charitable acts. And I said that whole thing without taking a breath.” Geffen joins past recipients Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, His Cliveness, Ahmet Ertegun, Berry Gordy, Doug Morris and Mo Ostin. (1/12a)
