SONY GETS A C+: Epic Records has teamed with Sony Pictures Television on the soundtrack album to the Showtime series The Big C on June 7. Sony Music, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Showtime will donate 100% of their net profits from the soundtrack sales to the nonprofit initiative Stand Up to Cancer, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation. The collection features tracks from, among others, the Staple Singers, Sara Bareilles, Delta Spirit, Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, Oh Land and Andrew Allen, as well as the score suite by Marcelo Zarvos and main-title theme “Game Called Life by Leftover Cuties. The Big C: The Complete First Season will also be available on June 7 on DVD and digital download. It’s a really good show, by the way, and Laura Linney is terrific in it. (5/4a)
