Music Rights Now

FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS: UMGD’s Jim Urie is urging the music community to continue its offensive against online music theft with the new Congress. Last year, more than 50,000 e-mails were sent imploring them to pass aggressive laws to combat priacy. A bipartisan group of legislators recently introduced S. 968, a bill giving the Justice Dept. the authority to seek a federal court order to seize a domain name used by a website engaged in criminal piracy or counterfeiting. He asks you to click here, even if you sent an e-mail last year. Go to www.musicrightsnow.org for more or forward to a friend. He asks your colleagues and friends to send a message as well. Just enter your home address and click "send." (5/20p)
