Spotify virtually unknown in US

IT ISN’T EASY BEING GREEN: Here’s an interesting factoid courtesy of Digital Music News based on raw data from Google Search: It seems the average American has never heard of Spotify and remains unconvinced about the viability of subscription music plans. According to recent logs pulled for a number of music-related apps, it turns out that the "groundswell" for Spotify is actually far less than that of Limewire, which has been defunct since last year. A look at current global search activity for queries containing the term “Spotify” on Google for the past 30 days reveals incredible demand from Sweden but essentially zero interest in the U.S. Indeed, there wasn’t enough data to show a trend graph for the past week.
