Chesney breaks NY/NJ attendance record for country shows

YEE-HAW AWREADY: Kenny Chesney’s Saturday night concert at New Meadowlands Stadium drew 55k, making it the biggest ticketed country show in New York/New Jersey history. The previous record holder was Willie Nelson's 1983 festival with Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Linda Ronstadt. During the encore, Chesney showed his eclecticism, busting out Bob Marley & the Wailers' "Three Little Birds," Tom Petty's "Runnin' Down a Dream" and the Steve Miller Band's "The Joker," with help from the Zac Brown Band. In the closing moments, Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher and Jets coach Rex Ryan joined Chesney onstage, triggering an explosive reaction from the crowd. How about that. (8/16a)
