George and the birth of HITS

IT WAS A VERY GOOD YEAR: In commemoration of this month’s celebration of the life and music of George Harrison (see next item), and of HITS’ first quarter century (our surprisingly thick 25th anniversary issue hits next week), here’s George doing “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” during the Prince's Trust All-Star Rock Concert in 1986. He had a pretty good band that night, including Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne, Elton John, Phil Collins and Ray Cooper. (9/8a)
