HITS at SXSW

HITS AT SXSW: Just when you thought it was safe to go to Austin, look for several HITS luminaries to be present at SXSW this week. Our own chief executive Ivana (who you can hear cackling on this week’s Airhead cartoon) will be there moderating the panel, “Creating Your Second Act,” Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in Ballroom 16A/B, inspired by the successful “reinvention” stories of Nada Surf’s Matthew Caws, CMT’s Leslie Fram, Glassnote’s Daniel Glass, Merge’s Mac MacCaughan, his label’s recent signing Bob Mould and Loeb + Loeb attorney John Strohm, a former member of the Blake Babies, Lemonheads and Antenna, who now reps The Civil Wars, Alabama Shakes and Bon Iver. Ivana will also be curating the Wednesday night show at 1100 Warehouse for local alternative station KROX, featuring performances by Neon Trees, Kasabian, fun., Blondfire, Tribes and Twin Atlantic. Our other El Presidente, Texas homeboy Todd Hensley, will be a panelist on “The Biggest Missed Opportunities on the Web,” moderated by Section 101 President/CEO Liz Leahy at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday in Room 17A at the Austin Convention Center. Panelists include singer/songwriter Rachael Yamagata, Magus Entertainment’s Melissa Aubert (manager of Carina Round) and Sneak Attack Media Founder/President Marni Wandner. (3/12p)
