Bob Welch RIP

BOB WELCH, the onetime Fleetwood Mac guitarist/singer, was found dead in Nashville of an apparent suicide, according to the Nashville PD. He was 66. Welch's wife told the police that he had been suffering with health issues. A suicide note was found in the home. Welch was part of the Fleetwood Mac front line during the transitional period between the band's Jeremy Spencer/Danny Kirwan period and its belated breakthrough behind Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. He appeared on Future Games, Bare Trees and Heroes Are Hard to Find before launching a solo career, scoring a massive hit with "Ebony Eyes" in 1977. (6/8a)
