Artifact Movie Picked Up for Distributon

CLOSER TO THE EDGE: Artifact, the Thirty Seconds to Mars documentary which recently won the People’s Choice Award when it premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, has been picked up for worldwide sales by The Works International. The company will sell the film’s international rights at the upcoming AFM. Dubbed the Super Size Me of the record business, Artifact tells the story of the band’s battle with EMI during the ill-fated Guy Hands/Terra Firma era back in 2008, when the music group filed a $30 million against the band for trying to get out of its contract. EMI has since been acquired by UMG, with few of the same individuals remaining. “The film is a true expose of the music industry,” says The Works’ Clare Crean. “It highlights the rollercoaster ride the group has taken in becoming one of the biggest bands of this generation.” Artifact’s direction is credited to Bartholomew Cubbins, an alias for the band’s Jared Leto.
